During the first day of your 6 days Desert Tour From Tangier To Marrakech trip, We’ll kick-off with a drive through the Rif Mountains and past the city of Tetouan. To enjoy fully enjoy the breathtaking view of the landscape, we’ll stop to rest at the feet of the Rif mountains, in Chefchaouan. Chefchaouen’s medina has a strong influence of Spanish architecture, as it was once part of the “Spanish Morocco” it’s square is showered in funky artisanal shops beaming with colors. It’s also home to many rooftop restaurants and cafes, also available in your in the Riads, where you can enjoy the rest of the evening with a nice breeze and wonderful view.
After breakfast in the Riad our journey starts towards Volubilis crossing several Rif villages and beautiful countryside, we stop in Volubilis to discover the Roman ruins and we learn about the Moroccan BC history, then we will drive to Meknes city (the 17th-century heritage), where we will stop for lunch. The afternoon is time to visit the historical sites of Medina such as Bab el Mansour, Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Later on we head to Fes city where we will spend the night.
After breakfast, we will begin our visit of “the oldest living Medina in the world” with a local official tour guide. We will tour the Medina with its “souks” (markets), stopping at the gateway of the Royal Palace, the 9th century Karouine Mosque and University.We will visit also the tomb of the city founder “Moulay Idriss II”. Lunch will be held at one of the traditional restaurants in the old Medina. After lunch we will continue our tour to visit the Nejjarine Fountain, the old Harem Garden and the Batha Museum. On the way back to the hotel, we will stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
After breakfast, we drive south to Ifran and Azrou through the Middle Atlas Mountains. On the way, we stop at the cedar forests to see the monkeys in their natural habitat. Travelling through the Tizi Ntalghamt and pass along the beautiful Ziz gorges carved into the volcanic rock, you will see views of the plateau of the Middle Atlas and the changing landscape to reveal notes of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia.
After lunch, we continue our journey through the valley of Ziz in Erfoud, Rissani and Merzouga. After a glass of mint tea, we leave our luggage in a hotel and take a camel trek to a Berber camp in the dunes of Erg Chebbi, they are the highest sand dunes in North Africa. The camel trek takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to the camp where we stay the night in the Berber tents in the desert. The tents are equipped with mattresses, blankets and pillows.
After dinner, we will gather around the fire and enjoy the sound of traditional Berber songs and drums under the stars.
If you wake up early enough, the Sahara desert offers an amazing sunrise. Afterward, after shower, and breakfastyou will peacefully ride the camels back to the village of Merzouga, in the edge of the dunes appreciate in the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes with first lights. Visit Errissani city and Errfoud brfore leaving towards Todra gorges, well known as an important destination for rock climbers. The highest and narrow west gorges in Morocco, where we can do some walking before heading to Dades for dinner and accommodation.
After breakfast we start the drive to the valley of the roses which blooms in April, taking some off-road inside the palm trees of Skoura where the architecture of the Kasbahs is spreading within the shadow of the palms. We stop in Ouarzazate city for some picture of the Kasbah of Taourirt; as well as the cinema studios which are the high lights of the city of Ouarzazate, afterward we head to Ksar Ait Ben Haddo which is an UNESCO world heritage, and most visited sight in the south, after the walking visit and lunch we take the road again crossing the High Atlas mountain via Tizi n Tichka pass 2260m. arriving Marrakech in the early evening Where Your 6 Days Tour From Tangier End.
